Crepello was a racehorse, born in 1954, which went on to win The Derby and the 2000 Guineas in 1957. Such was the reputation of this  horse as a thoroughbread, that in the early 1960's British Railways chose the name to adorn one of their new Deltic locomotives.

This class of 22 locomotives spent the 1960's & 1970's working on the East Coat Mainline, close to which I was born and brought up. These locomotives left a lasting impression on me so when I was searching for a short, unique name for my first internet account which had not already been taken, it was to the list of Deltic names that I turned.

My first choice of "Pinza" (55 007) had already been taken by an existing Demon customer, so it was to Crepello (55 012) that I turned....
